A Oracle Case Study
CNBC, a high-traffic business news website, was dissatisfied with its existing CDN model and aimed to improve page response time, gain real-time control over web traffic (reporting, change management, alerting), better utilize its own data centers, protect users from origin issues, and reduce costs.
CNBC implemented Dyn Managed DNS with anycast geolocation load balancing (plus aiScaler caching), steering users to the nearest origin with flexible traffic rules, lower DNS TTLs, and a CDN kept as overflow. The change delivered about a 1-second (~30%) improvement in page load time, roughly 80% reductions in CDN traffic and fees and in CMS load, and provided real-time visibility, instant control over caching/load distribution, and better utilization of internal data centers.
