Case Study: Krux achieves global load balancing and five‑nines availability with Oracle IaaS/PaaS

A Oracle Case Study

Preview of the Krux Case Study

How Global Load Balancing Makes Big Data Management Easier

Krux is a San Francisco–based cloud data-management company (founded in 2010) that helps publishers and advertisers collect, protect and monetize consumer data for more than 500 million users worldwide. Supporting clients such as The New York Times and NBC, Krux processes roughly 700 million new data points and over 1 billion data requests daily, so DNS speed and reliability were critical—previous dependence on a single infrastructure provider left them vulnerable to outages.

Krux adopted Dyn Managed DNS for its reputation, price and advanced traffic-shaping features, notably geolocation load balancing, and also leverages IaaS and PaaS. The change let Krux route traffic globally at the network level, maintain high availability during data-center issues, support rapid expansion into Europe and Asia, and sustain its “Five Nines” uptime target since the switch.
