HNI Modernizes Enterprise Identity With Oracle Cloud

HNI, a global leader in workplace and home furnishings with brands such as Allsteel, HON, and Gunlocke and about 7,700 employees, needed to modernize and simplify access to its enterprise systems—including Oracle E-Business Suite—by upgrading its identity and access management platform. The company aimed to migrate to Oracle Identity and Access Management 12c on Oracle Cloud Infrastructure as an in-house project, minimizing business disruption during a concurrent major ERP migration and maintaining secure, seamless single sign-on for internal and external users.

HNI implemented Oracle IAM 12c components (Oracle Internet Directory, Oracle Access Manager, and Oracle Identity Governance) on OCI, using Oracle Identity Manager and OAM for centralized identity administration and SSO, and worked closely with Oracle’s PUMA team for guidance and tools. The in-house migration completed successfully with no disruption to the ERP project, supported roughly 3,000 internal and thousands of external users, and delivered greater resilience and easier access continuity—reducing fragility and meeting HNI’s timelines and supportability goals.
