Hearst Transforms Back Office for New Era Using Oracle Cloud

Hearst Communications, a global media and information services company operating roughly 360 businesses across newspapers, magazines, TV and digital services, was held back by outdated, highly customized and disconnected finance and HR systems that produced inconsistent data and limited agility. To support growth and deliver new digital capabilities, Hearst needed to consolidate onto a modern cloud platform for finance, HR and inventory management.

Hearst standardized on Oracle Cloud (ERP, EPM, HCM, SCM) to create an integrated platform that enabled near‑real‑time insights and lower IT costs. The implementation consolidated more than 15 charts of accounts into one, sped reporting to senior leaders, automated onboarding and reduced job codes from 7,000 to 1,700, simplified audits, replaced six planning tools with a single solution, and improved workforce analytics and employee engagement through micro‑learning.
