Preview of the Guitar Center Case Study

Guitar Center strikes a chord with OCI and improves performance by over 30%

Guitar Center, America’s largest music retailer, needed a more scalable and resilient way to support its omnichannel ecommerce operations as demand shifted sharply during the pandemic and chip shortages limited on-premises expansion. The company also wanted stronger security, better data quality, and cloud capabilities that could support inventory optimization and personalized customer experiences. It chose Oracle Cloud Infrastructure (OCI) and Oracle Exadata Database Service on Dedicated Infrastructure to migrate critical application workloads and data to the cloud.

Oracle helped Guitar Center migrate Oracle ATG, BI, and IBM OMS workloads with Oracle Cloud Lift Services, while also improving connectivity and security with Oracle FastConnect, Oracle Security, Identity, and Compliance, and Oracle Web Application Firewall. As a result, Guitar Center achieved 100% system uptime and improved performance by over 30%, with sub-second response times and easier scaling to demand. Oracle’s automated cloud and database capabilities also reduced the burden on technical staff and supported continued innovation without rewriting applications.
