GSBN and IQAX speed global shipping, improve sustainability with OCI Blockchain

GSBN, a global shipping consortium, partnered with IQAX to modernize a paper-heavy cargo release process that relied on many documents, took days to complete, and created cost, fraud, and sustainability challenges. The team chose Oracle, using Oracle Blockchain Platform on Oracle Cloud Infrastructure along with OCI Kubernetes Engine, to build a more secure and scalable solution.

Oracle implemented GSBN’s Cargo Release and electronic Bill of Lading capabilities across multiple regions, enabling live updates and a single immutable source of truth for shipment documents. The results were significant: cargo release time dropped from two or three days to just a couple of hours, the platform now serves over 10,000 customers, and one shipping line reported 90% customer adoption at Chinese import ports. Oracle also helped eliminate the need to courier millions of paper documents each year, reducing costs and improving sustainability.
