GRUPO IBEROSTAR Deploys International, Multilingual Hotel-Booking Interface with Less Than Five Minutes of Business Interruption

GRUPO IBEROSTAR, a family-owned multinational hospitality group with more than 100 four- and five-star hotels (36,000 rooms) and over 1.5 million guests annually, needed to internationalize its online booking engine to support local languages and character sets (for markets such as Russia and Hungary), enable partners to sell in their customers’ languages, minimize downtime during localization and migrations, and reduce the total cost of ownership for its booking system.

By upgrading Oracle Database to UTF‑8 and using Oracle GoldenGate to migrate the in‑house booking platform to a Red Hat Linux environment, IBEROSTAR deployed a multilingual booking interface, improved database performance and administration, and completed system migrations with near‑zero downtime—achieving less than five minutes of business interruption. The project enabled faster market expansion, a better online experience for customers and partners, and optimized Oracle investments through Premier Support.
