Grupo Bimbo, Mexico’s leading baked-goods company, needed to reduce distribution costs and gain nationwide visibility across 22 distribution centers. The company aimed to eliminate spreadsheet- and paper-based processes, improve transport infrastructure and staffing efficiency, and cut the time spent each day on scheduling.

Working with Capgemini, Bimbo implemented Oracle Transportation Management Managed Cloud Service (with Oracle Database and E-Business Suite) and adopted Oracle fleet and operational-planning tools to automate orders, routing and trip calculations. The move to the cloud delivered about 1% savings in transport costs, halved daily scheduling time (from 90 to 45 minutes), removed paper forms and decentralized spreadsheets, improved rate negotiation, and reduced HR and freight expenses.
