Gravity delivers scalable personalization solutions with Oracle MySQL HeatWave

Gravity Research & Development, the company behind the Yusp recommendation engine, needed a more elastic, secure, and fully managed database platform to support resource-intensive personalization workloads and avoid slow, costly ETL processes. Operating on an older MySQL fork and bare metal infrastructure, Gravity struggled to scale quickly enough and wanted high availability, stronger security, and better performance for both OLTP and OLAP queries.

Oracle implemented Oracle MySQL HeatWave Database Service on Oracle Cloud Infrastructure, along with Oracle Virtual Machines, Virtual Cloud Network, and OCI Flexible Load Balancer. Gravity migrated successfully, consolidated workloads onto one platform, eliminated ETL, and began delivering real-time analytics directly from MySQL HeatWave. The move improved scalability and availability, removed hardware maintenance, accelerated time to market, strengthened security, and reduced total cost of ownership through Oracle’s pay-per-use pricing.
