A Oracle Case Study
Glendale Water & Power, a municipal utility in Southern California, had invested in advanced metering infrastructure and a successful behavioral energy‑efficiency program but still needed to cut costly peak demand. The challenge was to amplify savings during high‑cost peak hours and create a reliable behavioral demand response resource without deploying new devices or complex pricing.
Glendale enrolled customers in Opower’s Behavioral Demand Response, using AMI data and a randomized controlled trial to deliver personalized, timely peak‑day insights. The program reduced peak demand by over 6%, achieved 85% customer satisfaction, cost roughly two‑thirds less than traditional demand response, and strengthened customer trust and engagement.
