General Petroleum Company Consolidates Workloads on Oracle

General Petroleum Company (GPC) is Egypt’s leading national oil and gas company, operating since 1957 across multiple producing regions and employing 3,800 people. GPC needed to boost database and application performance, cut software license costs, resolve hardware/software compatibility between its databases and in‑house ERP, and perform regular backups without interrupting operations.

Working with Oracle Partner TPS, GPC consolidated databases and applications onto Oracle Database Appliance with Oracle VM, migrating systems in 50 working days. The deployment delivered up to 3x better performance and 50% faster processing for critical applications, eliminated backup downtime, reduced customer complaints to two per month, simplified maintenance and high‑availability management, and enabled on‑demand licensing to scale up to 72 processors and align software spend with growth.
