A Oracle Case Study
General Construction Co. Ltd. (GCC) is a leading Mauritian building and civil‑engineering firm (founded 1958, ~400 employees) that delivers projects from hotels and ports to roads and reservoirs. Facing the need to protect investments in legacy Oracle systems while enabling web‑based, remote access for site managers and the rapid development of both enterprise and mobile applications, GCC sought a single, standards‑based development framework to modernize and centralize application delivery without retraining staff on multiple toolsets.
GCC adopted Oracle Fusion Middleware and the Oracle Application Development Framework (ADF), trained internal teams with an external Java/ADF consultant, and integrated existing Oracle Forms/Reports into a centralized web platform. Over about a year to first delivery (and four years of continued rollout), the company redeveloped core systems, automated purchasing and scheduling, extended services to remote sites, and delivered iOS/Android apps from a single codebase—reducing maintenance, standardizing processes, improving development efficiency, and speeding delivery.
