Gemalto Mobile Financial Services Delivers Norway’s First Near-Field-Communication Payment Service

Gemalto, a global leader in digital security and provider of Mobile TrustNet solutions, partnered with TSM Nordic to deliver Norway’s first NFC payment service, ValYou. The challenge was to build a secure, interoperable global infrastructure and single connection point that could host a future-proof mobile-payment platform, accelerate on‑boarding of banks, operators and service providers, and guarantee high availability, data confidentiality and rapid disaster recovery.

Gemalto deployed Oracle SPARC T5 servers, Oracle Database, WebLogic, Java Card and Solaris across three data centers to deliver a multi‑tenant hub for virtual wallets, ticketing and real‑time contactless transactions. The solution enabled rapid on‑boarding, secure installation and management of payment applications, launch of the first Scandinavian contactless service, thousands of secure transactions, the capacity to manage billions of subscribers, and improved availability, security and lower‑cost continuity for banks, MNOs and service providers.
