Food distributor cuts costs and downtime with Oracle

Hill Brothers, a Puerto Rico-based food distributor serving more than 500 businesses, was struggling with monthly system crashes, manual billing, and high downtime costs as it managed large volumes of transactions and inventory. The company, which had used JD Edwards ERP for more than 12 years, needed a more stable hardware and database solution and chose Oracle Database Appliance from Oracle.

Oracle implemented Oracle Database Appliance as a complete, integrated platform for Hill Brothers’ JD Edwards EnterpriseOne environment. The solution eliminated crashes, improved performance, and has run nonstop since 2018 with 99.7% availability, delivering about $60,000 in annual operating savings. Oracle also cut purchase-order printing time from 15 seconds to 3 seconds and gave users real-time, reliable access to business data.
