FBN Bank UK, an international bank facilitating trade between Africa and Europe for corporate, institutional and private clients, faced risks and limitations from a dated core-banking implementation. Concerned about disruption but driven by growing vulnerabilities and regulatory drivers like PSD2 and open banking, the bank sought to digitize operations, improve security, and position itself for future AI-driven services.
Using Oracle FLEXCUBE and supporting APIs, FBN Bank UK upgraded its core, added a new middle‑office workflow, refreshed online banking and launched its first mobile app—delivered with an agile approach in about eight-and-a-half months. The integrated solution automated workflows, supported remote working and compliance during COVID‑19, consolidated data for self‑service analytics, expanded partner collaboration and personalization, and paved the way for ISO 20022 messaging and AI use cases such as automated document checks and compliance controls.
