Case Study: Fastweb achieves superfast, scalable 5G traffic control and rapid policy updates with Oracle Communications PCRF and SBC

A Oracle Case Study

Preview of the FastWeb Case Study

Fastweb manages huge data volumes at superfast speeds with Oracle

Fastweb, an Italian telecommunications provider that grew from a fiber-network startup into a quad-play operator, needed to manage massive fixed and mobile traffic as it moved into the 5G era. The company required a way to control both networks and to update policies and rules quickly and securely without rewriting them, while supporting new services like VoLTE and handling enormous data volumes.

Fastweb deployed Oracle Communications Session Border Controller (SBC) and Oracle 3G/4G Policy and Charging Rules Function (PCRF), leveraging their virtualized, highly scalable and standards-compliant architecture. The solution enabled rapid policy changes and feature rollouts (implementations often in weeks, services typically under six months), improved network agility and capacity to handle superfast data traffic, and supported Fastweb’s move to 5G while keeping costs competitive and integration straightforward.
