EnBW Improves License Usage for Its High-Availability Database Platform

EnBW Energie Baden-Württemberg AG is a major German energy provider with about 20,000 employees serving 5.5 million customers. The company relies on an Oracle high-availability database platform to run critical SAP systems for energy trading and operations, and when its Unlimited License Agreement required an inventory at contract expiration, EnBW faced the challenge of gaining accurate, organization-wide visibility into Oracle license entitlement and usage to avoid costly downtime and under-licensing risk.

Oracle Partner Trivadis performed a manual inventory of Oracle software across EnBW and three associated companies, and Oracle License Management Services worked with EnBW to assess and validate the findings. The engagement delivered a precise license inventory, improved software-usage measurement and management, increased efficiency in the Oracle portfolio, and reduced the risk of under-licensing.
