Electricity Authority of Cyprus Leverages Integrated Spatial Data Management Platform to Compete in Newly Liberalized Electricity Market

The Electricity Authority of Cyprus (EAC) is the island’s state-owned power utility responsible for generation, transmission, distribution and supply of electricity. EAC implemented Oracle Spatial and Graph on Oracle Database 12c with Oracle Solaris, creating a 65 GB integrated spatial data management platform that improved application stability, resolved deadlocks, enabled near real‑time network management, and enhanced reporting across CAD/GIS/ETL sources. The solution preserved data security and scalability, delivered end‑to‑end workflows and 24/7 topology access for operations, cut infrastructure needs via Spatial Vector Acceleration (5 CPUs versus 12 previously), ensured ESRI/OGC interoperability, and is supported by ongoing Oracle Consulting maintenance with plans to deploy in‑memory analytics for further performance gains.
