Eindhoven University of Technology Moves Performance Management to Oracle Cloud

Eindhoven University of Technology (TU/e), a research university with about 3,000 staff and 11,000 students, needed to modernize its personnel budgeting after running Oracle Hyperion Planning on premises for a decade. Facing slow performance for financial controllers, browser compatibility problems, and a new cloud-first policy, the university sought a solution that would speed forecasting, improve accessibility, and better control academic staff costs.

TU/e implemented Oracle Planning and Budgeting Cloud Service (integrated with Oracle E‑Business Suite) with partner Finext, completing a proof of concept and user acceptance testing on time and within budget. The move eliminated browser issues, accelerated data entry, consolidated planning processes, removed four databases and two servers, and equipped 30 departmental controllers with continuous online access—while cutting the license-fee component of total cost of ownership by 57%.
