Eaton Drives Its Vehicle Group Brazil with Better Plant-Equipment Management and Improves Processing for 64,000 Work Orders, Annually

Eaton, a global power-management company with about 102,000 employees, needed to replace an aging maintenance system at its South American commercial-vehicle transmission plants. The legacy solution required costly upgrades, relied on paper and Excel for downtime tracking, and didn’t integrate with purchasing and back-office finance systems—hindering machine optimization, maintenance decision-making, and IT cost control.

Eaton implemented Oracle E-Business Suite Enterprise Asset Management across three major plants, replacing five applications and two BI tools and integrating maintenance with production and financial systems. The rollout—completed on time and on budget—now manages hundreds of pieces of equipment and about 64,000 work orders a year, provides consistent metrics for ~200 users, improves visibility into preventative-maintenance costs, synchronizes manufacturing and maintenance, and delivered better margins, standardized processes, and lower support costs.
