DOCOMO Systems, a subsidiary of NTT DOCOMO that develops and maintains group-wide IT services, launched a cloud-based corporate information system to serve 30 subsidiaries (and later external customers) with mobile access. The company needed to boost performance, scalability, availability, and security as the service scaled across the NTT Group, while cutting build and operating costs and supporting customers’ existing authentication systems.

DOCOMO consolidated databases on Oracle Exadata (with Oracle Real Application Clusters) and deployed Oracle Access Management Suite and Oracle Virtual Directory for flexible identity integration (LDAP/SAML) and single sign-on. The new architecture delivered up to 30% lower system operating costs, faster processing of large business datasets, high availability and rapid failover, simpler deployments using existing IDs, improved user experience (SSO and self-service password reset), and enhanced disaster recovery with real-time database copies.
