DIN Optimizes Creation of Standards with Oracle

Deutsches Institut für Normung (DIN) is Germany’s national standards organization, coordinating more than 32,000 external experts across thousands of committees to develop norms that support trade, safety, and innovation. Faced with roughly 6,000 ongoing standardization projects, DIN needed to standardize, monitor, and speed up workflows—halving average project processing time—while ensuring process reliability, transparency, an ergonomic user experience, and consistently high-quality deliverables.

DIN implemented Oracle Business Process Management Suite and upgraded to Oracle Database 12c to standardize processes, give project managers real-time access to required information, and automate decision-support. The solution delivered on-time, enabled roughly double the processing speed (halving project time), earlier publication of standards, easier onboarding, fewer errors, and a 20% performance increase from the database upgrade—strengthening DIN’s ability to manage national and international standardization projects.
