A Oracle Case Study
DigiFarm, a Norway-based precision agriculture company founded by Nils Helset, needed accurate, up-to-date field boundary data to power crop monitoring and other farm analytics. The company turned to Oracle and Oracle Cloud Infrastructure (OCI) to support its cloud-native platform, using bare metal GPUs and cloud services to train deep learning models on satellite imagery and improve boundary detection.
With Oracle, DigiFarm built a workflow that ingests satellite data, stores and processes it in OCI Object Storage and Block Storage, and serves results through Oracle API Gateway and OCI Functions. The solution delivered 92% boundary accuracy, made images 40 times more accurate than existing models, and helped DigiFarm serve about 500,000 farmers in 30 countries. Oracle also helped DigiFarm cut GPU running costs by 30–40%, saving about $10,000–$12,000 per month.
