A Oracle Case Study
Daewoo Engineering & Construction (Daewoo E&C), a Seoul‑based global construction firm, needed to unify disparate databases from its domestic headquarters and 10 overseas sites across Africa, the Middle East and Southeast Asia to gain real‑time access to critical enterprise data, speed up financial close (previously taking weeks), and minimize the impact of unreliable overseas networks on business operations.
Working with Oracle and partner Daesang Information Technology, Daewoo implemented Oracle GoldenGate for real‑time data replication and secure credential management. The solution delivered real‑time financial closing, unified enterprise data so more than 30% of new overseas contracts are reflected in the global system, cut processing latency (up to seven seconds per 1,000 transactions), enabled zero‑downtime schema changes, provided immediate failover/recovery, and improved IT productivity and security; the project was validated in a three‑day test and completed in about one year with a three‑month stabilization phase.
