A Oracle Case Study
CPFL Energia, Brazil’s largest private power generator and distributor serving about 20 million customers across four states, faced growing operational pressure to produce concurrent, accurate tax reports for multiple subsidiaries under shortened government deadlines. The company also had to process billing for more than 7.4 million accounts monthly, improve visibility into payment defaults and debt collection, speed up batch and database‑cloning tasks for 82 tax analysts, shrink data‑center footprint and energy use, and ensure round‑the‑clock system availability.
CPFL implemented Oracle Exadata Database Machine with Oracle Business Intelligence and Active Data Guard, supported by Service IT and Oracle Advanced Customer Support. The new platform cut tax‑report runs from 10 days to 17 hours (meeting tighter 15‑day deadlines), halved processing in high‑volume areas (5 to 2.5 hours), delivered roughly 5x performance improvement and better data compression, boosted debt‑collection effectiveness through faster analytics, reduced data‑center space and energy costs, and provided rapid recovery and higher availability.
