Colombian agency moves 1.64 million property records to Oracle Cloud

The Department of Antioquia needed to modernize its cadastral property registry platform, which supports land administration, tax collection, and even land reparations tied to Colombia’s Peace Agreement. Its on-premises server environment was slow and prone to technical failures, forcing staff to monitor the system overnight to keep it running while managing about 1.6 million property records across 122 municipalities.

Oracle implemented Oracle Cloud Infrastructure (OCI) to migrate the platform to a more reliable, faster, and automated environment. As a result, Antioquia no longer needed overnight shifts, processing became more efficient, and the system can now handle requests for about 3,000 property tax units without affecting other users. The move also improved response times to citizens and freed staff to focus on more strategic work.
