Cisco Fulfills its Commitment to Managing a Sustainable Supply Chain by Embedding Environmental Considerations into its Core Business Processes

Cisco Systems, a global technology leader, faced the challenge of embedding sustainability into a heavily outsourced, complex supply chain. The company needed an efficient global supplier-management process to enforce environmental and ethical standards, greater agility to handle post‑merger supply‑chain complexity, and operational changes to meet emissions and energy‑reduction targets.

Working with Oracle (and implementation partner Infosys and compliance partner Pincvision), Cisco deployed Oracle applications across product lifecycle, sourcing, inventory and analytics to track products, manage supplier audits, and enforce the EICC Code of Conduct. The solution ensured 100% of key suppliers reported GHGs to the CDP, supported the “Pack it Green” packaging program (saving nearly 1,500 metric tons of GHGs annually), improved repair and end‑of‑life handling, advanced conflict‑free sourcing, and helped achieve broad product and environmental compliance.
