A Oracle Case Study
Chicago Park District (CPD) is one of the largest municipal park systems in the U.S., managing more than 8,100 acres, 580 parks, 77 pools, and 26 miles of lakefront. With over 30 departments responsible for roughly 400 annual projects, CPD needed better ways to share parks and facilities data, automate project and work‑order workflows that were stuck in spreadsheets, and more effectively manage capital funds and grants to avoid delays and improve coordination.
Working with Oracle partner Sofbang, CPD implemented an integrated Oracle solution—Primavera P6, Oracle Application Express, Oracle SOA/Fusion Middleware and connected work‑order and E‑Business Suite modules—rolling out grants, project, and work‑order management. The result was centralized visibility and collaboration across departments, automated service requests and project tracking, improved fund/grant oversight, balanced workloads, faster response to work orders, and measurable gains in productivity and citizen satisfaction while streamlining management of 400 active projects.
