CERN openlab tests AI to support physics research scenarios, including building custom large language models with OCI Data Science Service

CERN openlab, the research and engineering organization behind CERN’s physics experiments, is exploring how AI can help analyze the massive data generated by the world’s largest particle accelerator. To support this work, CERN openlab is testing new AI use cases with Oracle, including building custom large language models using OCI Data Science.

Oracle provided OCI Data Science notebooks and OCI AI Infrastructure to help CERN openlab build, deploy, manage, and train multiple models on high-performance GPUs. The solution improved model sharing across projects, reduced costs and energy use, and made it easier to reuse AI models for multiple detector and analysis challenges as CERN scales toward much larger datasets.
