Biofy combats antibiotic resistance with Oracle Cloud Infrastructure

Biofy, a biotech company focused on genetic analysis, was struggling with on-premises infrastructure that couldn’t scale to handle massive DNA sequencing datasets quickly enough. To fight antibiotic resistance and speed up hospital diagnoses, Biofy turned to Oracle Cloud Infrastructure and related Oracle services to build a more scalable, AI-driven solution.

Using Oracle’s OCI Database with PostgreSQL, Generative AI, Autonomous Database, and other cloud tools, Biofy created the Abby Recommender platform to identify bacterial infections and resistance profiles in hours instead of days. With Oracle, Biofy cut diagnostic time from five days to under four hours, improved performance by 50% at up to half the cost of competitors, and helped save an estimated 2,000 lives in a single year.
