A Oracle Case Study

Preview of the Bank für Sozialwirtschaft Case Study

BFS Increases Storage Space by 80% Without Incurring Additional Costs

Bank für Sozialwirtschaft AG (BFS) is a German specialty bank serving social, health care and education organizations, handling everything from small donations to complex institutional financing. Facing stricter BaFin regulations and growing demand for new services and mobile data access, BFS needed to boost storage capacity and performance, process high volumes of small transactions cost‑efficiently, maintain strong data protection, and migrate without disrupting operations or increasing headcount.

BFS deployed four Oracle SPARC T7‑4 servers, two Oracle FS1‑2 all‑flash storage systems and Oracle Solaris 11.3 with Oracle Advanced Customer Support. The upgrade delivered almost 80% more storage, roughly doubled server performance, consolidated 46 SAP R/3 systems onto four servers, cut day‑end closings from 5.5 to 4 hours (≈27% faster), improved loan decision speed and risk management, strengthened security and compliance, and enabled the bank’s IT to be run by a team of four with no operational downtime during deployment.
