Belo Sun Mining finds gold with Aconex

Belo Sun Mining is developing the Volta Grande gold project in northeast Brazil (about 60 km from Altamira), a multi-million-ounce deposit that entered feasibility in 2015 after extensive drilling. The study involved 180 people from 15 firms across Canada, Brazil and Australia, with frequent consultant turnover, limits of in-house engineering tools, and a critical need for immediate access to the latest, independent project documents.

Belo Sun deployed Oracle Aconex as a cloud-based common data environment, giving all organizations secure, always-available access, automatic document revision control, and permanent capture of project correspondence. The platform created a single historical record, was easy to adopt, improved onboarding flexibility, significantly reduced project risk, and is planned to be extended into the tendering and construction phases.
