A Oracle Case Study
Barclaycard Arena Hamburg, a modern multi‑purpose venue owned by Anschutz Entertainment Group that hosts up to 140 events a year for 3,000–16,000 spectators, needed to replace an obsolete cash‑only POS. Management wanted faster checkouts and contactless payments, resilient offline operation for event‑specific setups and internet outages, and centralized reporting to track sales by outlet and accurately calculate franchise rent.
The arena deployed Oracle Hospitality Simphony and MICROS Workstation across 145 terminals—mixing fixed registers, handhelds, and table tablets—with contactless processing, offline synchronization, and inventory integration. The new system cut queues and transaction times, maximized short sales windows, improved inventory and sales reporting for concession managers and rent calculations, and reduced support and maintenance costs, all delivered within a compressed installation window.
