Preview of the Bank Muamalat Indonesia Case Study

Bank Muamalat Indonesia reduces TCO by 20% with Oracle Cloud

Bank Muamalat Indonesia, the country’s first Shariah bank (founded 1991) and a top-10 lender with more than 325 branches and 3,000 employees, faced a pressing need to accelerate digital services as COVID-19 restricted branch operations. Its legacy on‑premises environment and slow hardware procurement (six to eight weeks) left the bank without the secure, scalable, high‑performance infrastructure or refreshed development environment required for rapid product delivery.

The bank migrated development, test, and production workloads—including its Muamalat DIN mobile banking, Medallian wealth management, and RTGS services—to Oracle Cloud Infrastructure (optimized for Oracle WebLogic and Database) in a phased move starting 2018. The shift enabled test environments in minutes and new product delivery in about two weeks, cut total cost of ownership by 20%, reduced manual work for developers, and improved security, scalability, and regulatory compliance.
