Bangalore International Airport Ltd. (BIAL), operator of Kempegowda International Airport Bengaluru, faced the need to modernize its legacy public portal to deliver high availability and real‑time flight and airport information, improve passenger experience, simplify IT administration, accelerate mobile and web app development, and enable closer collaboration with retail and transportation partners.
BIAL upgraded to Oracle WebCenter Portal 11g in a two‑stage project completed in four months, delivering a reliable, easy‑to‑manage platform with real‑time schedules, single sign‑on and browser‑based application deployment. The upgrade cut page‑load time from 22 to 12 seconds, supports about 3,000 daily visitors and 200 concurrent users at peak, sped application rollout roughly 3x (from up to 20 minutes to about 8), improved partner collaboration and readiness for social and payment services, and increased IT staff productivity and system availability.
