Baltimore Gas and Electric (BGE), Maryland’s largest natural gas and electric utility, wanted to help nearly 200,000 customers who were eligible for financial assistance but had not yet applied. The company needed a better way to reach low- and moderate-income households and raise awareness of programs that could lower utility costs, using Oracle tools to make support more visible and personalized.
Oracle implemented Oracle Utilities Opower Equity and Affordability, Advanced Metering Infrastructure (AMI) Weekly Usage Alerts, and Video Home Energy Reports to deliver personalized energy information and connect customers to assistance programs. The result was strong engagement, with 80% of BGE customers saying the information was useful, suggesting higher enrollment in energy and financial assistance programs ahead.
