Baguio relaunches local tourism industry and protects visitors with Oracle Cloud

The City Government of Baguio needed a fast, secure way to revive local tourism while protecting visitors and residents during the pandemic. Using Oracle Cloud Infrastructure and Oracle Cloud Native Services, it built its visitor registration and tracking application, VISITA, after its on-premises systems proved too inflexible to launch and scale quickly.

Oracle helped Baguio go live with VISITA in just one week, supported by OCI Container Registry, OCI Kubernetes Engine, Oracle Web Application Firewall, and MySQL HeatWave Database Service. The city saved 55% in IT costs, and the cloud platform now scales to handle peak-season traffic that can be five times higher than off-season demand.
