Austin Commercial, working in joint venture with Webcor on the complex San Francisco Airport expansion, needed a reliable way to share information across company platforms and coordinate with an adjacent airport project. The team faced challenges including cross-JV collaboration, complex multi-organization review cycles, and managing BIM files from design through handover—creating an urgent need for one single “source of truth.”

Using Aconex (Project Controls and Collaboration), the JV implemented a neutral cloud-based common data environment with configurable RFI, submittal and approval workflows, metadata-driven search, and no file-size/type limits for BIM.
