athenahealth, a provider of network-enabled software and services for medical groups and health systems nationwide, needed to replace its on-premises Oracle PeopleSoft ERP environment, which was complex, time-consuming, and prone to error to manage. The company turned to Oracle, using Oracle Cloud Infrastructure (OCI) and Oracle Database Service to modernize its application and database operations.

With Oracle, athenahealth automated database lifecycle management, reduced costs by scaling capacity to what was needed, and used Oracle Data Guard to improve high availability and data protection. It also adopted OCI Full Stack Disaster Recovery, in partnership with Version 1, to enable one-click recovery of applications and infrastructure across OCI regions, strengthening disaster recovery for its full stack environment.
