A Oracle Case Study
Asahi Refining, a Salt Lake City–based precious metals refiner with nearly 200 years of industry heritage, faced the need to modernize a manually intensive legacy ERP while minimizing IT overhead, enabling telecommuting, and improving financial visibility and procurement efficiency. The company’s goals were to reduce operational costs and its carbon footprint while freeing IT resources to focus on core refining operations.
Working with partner 6e Technologies, Asahi adopted a cloud-first strategy and deployed Oracle ERP Cloud and related services in just 15 weeks with about 80% of configuration done remotely. The move cut implementation costs by 15%, reduced IT infrastructure and energy use, and avoided 8 tons of CO2 during implementation (with an estimated up to 20 tons avoided over the contract). Results included faster month-end close (three days versus seven), a unified procurement process, seamless integrations with legacy systems and payroll, improved employee productivity through remote work, and a lower total cost of ownership.
