A Oracle Case Study
Arqiva, the UK company that operates much of the infrastructure behind television, radio, satellite, and wireless communications for customers such as the BBC and ITV, needed to improve the customer experience for broadcast‑radio clients by giving them self‑service, near‑real‑time visibility into network status, 24/7 fault notifications and maintenance schedules, mobile access, and secure, role‑based access to commercially sensitive data — with the ability to extend the service to TV and satellite customers in future.
Using Oracle WebCenter Portal together with Oracle BPEL Process Manager and Oracle Unified Directory, Arqiva launched a standards‑based portal that delivers a traffic‑light view of network health, Google Maps site views, customizable dashboards, multiplex configuration tabs, incident watch lists, and mobile‑optimized pages. The portal achieved immediate adoption — 90% of radio groups signed up at launch and 180 users across 20 groups accessed 3,500 transmitters within three months — while improving content refresh speed, automating notifications and reports, enforcing fine‑grained access controls, and providing a scalable platform for future expansion.
