Case Study: American Railcar Industries achieves increased network availability and uninterrupted ERP operations with Oracle SD-WAN

American Railcar Industries benefits from increased network availability

American Railcar Industries (ARI), a leading North American designer, manufacturer, and servicer of hopper and tank railcars with about 2,000 employees across 14 sites, needed a reliable network to support a new ERP rollout. Remote sites were largely dependent on single or bonded T1 circuits with no backup and all Internet traffic was backhauled to headquarters, meaning a T1 failure could stop production and cost tens of thousands of dollars—so ARI sought a failsafe SD‑WAN to ensure ERP availability and handle growing bandwidth demands.

ARI deployed Oracle SD‑WAN (formerly Talari) across roughly 15 sites, providing instant failover, end‑to‑end QoS for latency‑sensitive SAP traffic, and full simultaneous use of primary and backup links. The solution eliminated dropped sessions, made outages transparent to users with minimal IT intervention, added economical bandwidth, and ensured continuous ERP operation and future capacity for voice and video applications.
