Algar Telecom, a Brazilian fixed‑line provider serving 1.3 million customers across 16 states, needed to cut costs and modernize its IT to keep pace in a competitive telecom market. The company set a target to reduce operating and capital expenditures by 50% while accelerating app adoption and moving away from on‑premises servers.

Algar adopted Oracle Exadata Cloud@Customer under an Unlimited License Agreement and migrated 300 databases, consolidating from 70 servers (1,300 cores) to 9 servers (324 cores). The move delivered a 60% performance increase, over 50% savings in capital expenditures, about 130 TB of storage reclaimed, provisioning times cut from two days to ~20 minutes, encrypted instances, easy scalability and more than two years without database outages.
