Preview of the Akna Case Study

Akna lifts MySQL performance by 1,000X and cuts costs by 60% with Oracle Cloud

Akna, a Brazilian digital marketing company with more than 5,000 clients, was struggling with sluggish MySQL performance, rising costs, and reliability issues on IBM Cloud as it grew after being acquired by Hi Platform. The company needed better availability, lower latency, and stronger support for its email marketing, SMS marketing, and API-driven services, so it turned to Oracle and MySQL HeatWave on Oracle Cloud Infrastructure.

Oracle helped Akna migrate about 5 TB of data from three clusters into OCI using MySQL Shell and Object Storage, moving the workloads to MySQL HeatWave on Oracle Cloud Infrastructure with added security tools like Cloud Guard and Web Application Firewall. The result was a 60% reduction in total cost of ownership, up to 1,000X performance improvement, 5.8X lower latency, and fewer customers waiting in queues during peak campaigns, improving scalability and customer satisfaction.
