Abay Bank, a growing Ethiopian bank aiming to become a regional leader, needed a stronger IT foundation to support daily operations and digital growth. Its aging core banking system made overnight reconciliation slow and sometimes pushed work into the next day, while its legacy internet and mobile banking apps needed modernization. Abay Bank turned to Oracle, using Oracle FLEXCUBE and Oracle Banking Digital Experience to address these challenges.

Oracle upgraded Abay Bank’s Oracle FLEXCUBE implementation and deployed Oracle Banking Digital Experience to improve functionality, integration, security, and user experience. The results were significant: end-of-day close is now 60% faster, end-of-month reconciliation is completed quickly enough to keep operations on schedule, and customers have responded positively to improved branch service and digital banking availability. Oracle also freed the IT team to focus more on innovation instead of maintaining outdated systems.
