A Oracle Case Study
Abans Group, one of Sri Lanka’s largest consumer electronics and appliances retailers, needed a way to scale its growing multi-business operations, improve security, and reduce the time and effort required to set up new entities. Its legacy on-premises environment was struggling to keep up with demand, especially during peak end-of-month transactions, and supply chain constraints made it harder to procure secure infrastructure. Abans turned to Oracle Cloud Infrastructure (OCI) and Oracle Enterprise Database Service to support its revenue-generating supply chain application.
Oracle helped Abans migrate 80% of its workloads to OCI and strengthen security with OCI Vulnerability Scanning Service, Oracle Cloud Guard, and Oracle Data Safe. The move reduced vulnerabilities, automated daily assessments, cut manual backup and disaster recovery tasks, and sped up application delivery and reporting. As a result, system uptime rose to 99.9%, downtime risk fell, and OCI automatically scaled to meet peak demand, while Oracle also helped improve Abans’ overall security posture.
