A worldwide first with role profiles at Cornwall Hospital

Cornwall Community Hospital, a 180-bed community hospital with 1,300 staff and 180 physicians, was facing the pressure of a global healthcare worker shortage and the challenge of supporting clinicians who work in multiple roles. To improve efficiency and reduce the burden on its clinical informatics team, the hospital partnered with Oracle Health and used Oracle’s EHR environment to better support staff who need different access and workflows by role.

Oracle implemented Role Profile functionality in the Oracle Health EHR so users could select the appropriate profile at login instead of relying on manual switching or separate credentials. This saved Cornwall Community Hospital’s CI team more than 10 hours per month, reduced troubleshooting and last-minute requests, and gave more than 20 physicians faster, more independent access tailored to their duties—ultimately improving workflow efficiency and supporting better patient care.
