A leading loyalty and marketing services company saves $1 million by migrating its on-premise applications to Oracle's Cloud

Alliance Data Systems, a publicly traded loyalty and marketing services company, faced a common IT crossroads: renew its data center contract or move to the cloud. With 20,000 employees and mission‑critical Oracle applications—PeopleSoft, Hyperion and OBIEE—running on Exadata, the company wanted to avoid hardware ownership and capacity‑planning headaches while preserving the performance, availability and security of its Exadata platform.

Working with Oracle and partner LTI, Alliance Data migrated 30 databases and 25 TB of data to Oracle Cloud Infrastructure Exadata Cloud Service in a 21‑week project, moving PeopleSoft, Hyperion, OBIEE and development environments over a private FastConnect link. The move delivers on‑demand scalability, consolidated three on‑prem Exadata quarter racks to two, cut Hyperion costs versus a competing cloud, and is expected to save about $1M in the first year while maintaining high performance and strong vendor support.
