Yapı KrediBank Halves Credit Card Authorization Time, Realizes Return on Investment in 24 Months

Yapi Kredi, one of Turkey’s largest private banks, needed to improve credit card and core banking performance while reducing downtime, lowering hardware ownership costs, and speeding up delivery of new services. The bank chose Oracle Exadata and related Oracle engineered hardware after seeking a more scalable, stable, and energy-efficient platform than its existing IBM mainframe environment.

Oracle Exadata helped Yapi Kredi deploy a modern engineered system that consolidated credit card and banking workloads, improved manageability, and increased capacity for growth. The results were significant: credit card authorization time was cut from 110 milliseconds to 50 milliseconds, backup windows were shortened, hardware footprint dropped from 203 rack units to 30, and the bank projected a return on investment in just 24 months.
