Unisul, a Brazilian university focused on innovation and growth, needed to modernize its aging IBM mainframe and upgrade PeopleSoft Campus Solutions to support rising enrollment and consolidate applications on a single platform. After evaluating campus software options, the university chose to stay with Oracle software and looked to Oracle Exadata to address performance and scalability challenges.

Oracle Exadata, along with other Oracle engineered systems and cloud services, was implemented to run Unisul’s production systems and support a unified architecture. The result was dramatically faster performance—reported at 17 times faster than x64 and 4 times faster than the IBM mainframe—and the ability to scale from serving 2,000 students to more than 12,000 through the cloud, while reducing costs and improving reliability.
